India's Ministry of Civil Aviation Introduces New Passenger-Friendly Rules, Mandating Free Seat Selection and Full Refunds
India's Ministry of Civil Aviation has announced new regulations aimed at enhancing the passenger experience. Under the proposed 'AirSewa' amendments, airlines will be required to offer a significant number of seats for free selection, ending the practice of charging for all preferred seats. The new rules also mandate full refunds, including convenience fees, for flight cancellations made within 24 hours of booking, provided the flight is at least seven days away. Additionally, specific provisions have been made to ensure passengers with disabilities can board and deplane with dignity. These changes are part of a broader effort to make air travel more accessible and fair for all passengers in the country.
