India Streamlines Transhipment Rules to Capture Rerouted Global Cargo
In response to global supply chain disruptions, India has significantly simplified its air cargo transhipment regulations. The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) has introduced new rules to facilitate smoother movement of goods between different customs-bonded facilities. This policy change aims to reduce dwell times and enhance efficiency, positioning India as a more attractive and resilient air cargo hub. The move is designed to capture cargo traffic being rerouted due to geopolitical conflicts and shipping crises, particularly on trade lanes between Southeast Asia and Europe.
