Icelandair-Backed Heart Aerospace ES-30 Begins Flight Testing

Swedish manufacturer Heart Aerospace has initiated flight testing for its hybrid-electric aircraft prototype, a significant milestone for the program. The company, which is notably backed by Icelandair, is testing a scaled-down model to validate its core electric propulsion system. The full-scale ES-30 is designed as a 30-seat regional aircraft intended for short-haul routes. Icelandair has a letter of intent to purchase the aircraft, aiming to integrate it into its domestic network. This testing phase moves the ES-30 closer to its target of entering commercial service by 2028.
