IATA Forecasts Strong Aviation Growth for Egypt, Urges National Strategy
The International Air Transport Association (IATA) projects significant growth for Egypt's aviation sector, with passenger numbers expected to reach 30.3 million by 2040. This expansion could see the industry's contribution to Egypt's GDP rise to $28 billion and support approximately 996,000 jobs. However, IATA's Director General, Willie Walsh, emphasized that achieving this potential requires a clear national aviation strategy. Key recommendations include enhancing infrastructure, modernizing economic and operational regulations, and embracing sustainability measures. IATA is urging the Egyptian government to collaborate on a plan to ensure the sector can meet future demand efficiently and sustainably.
