IAG Posts Record Profits, Confirms Major Airbus Aircraft Order
International Airlines Group (IAG), the owner of British Airways and Iberia, has announced a record annual profit of €3.5 billion for 2023. This significant increase from the previous year is attributed to a strong resurgence in travel demand, particularly for leisure trips. The group's capacity has now returned to pre-pandemic levels, with especially strong performance on routes across the North and South Atlantic. To support this growth, IAG has confirmed an order for 31 new Airbus A320neo family aircraft. These new planes are intended to modernize the fleets of its Vueling and Aer Lingus airlines.
