IAG Cargo and Kuehne+Nagel Pioneer SAF-Linked Carbon Credit Programme
IAG Cargo has partnered with logistics giant Kuehne+Nagel in a significant deal to advance the use of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF). Under the agreement, Kuehne+Nagel will purchase 11 million litres of SAF, reducing supply chain emissions by approximately 24,000 tonnes of CO2. In return for its investment, Kuehne+Nagel will receive verified carbon credits. This creates a market-based model that allows customers to directly participate in the decarbonisation of air freight. The initiative aims to establish a standardized framework for accounting for SAF benefits and distributing them to cargo customers.
