How a 9kg Pallet Net is Rewriting the Economics of Air Cargo Operations
A new, ultra-lightweight pallet net developed by AmSafe Bridport is creating significant economic and environmental benefits for the air cargo industry. Weighing just 9kg, it is 13kg lighter than traditional 22kg nets, a difference that generates substantial fuel savings and reduces CO2 emissions. Made from a high-tech fibre called Dyneema, the lighter net also improves ground handling safety by reducing physical strain on staff. Airlines like Qatar Airways Cargo have trialled the innovation, reporting savings of over $200,000 in fuel and a reduction of 600 tonnes of CO2. This seemingly small change in equipment is proving to be a major step forward in operational efficiency.
