Historic Vietnam-Era Huey Helicopter Restored as Static Display at Redstone Arsenal

A refurbished UH-1H Iroquois "Huey" helicopter has been installed as a new gate guard at Redstone Arsenal. The aircraft, tail number 70-16223, has a decorated history, including combat service in the Vietnam War. After its active duty, the helicopter served as a training vehicle before being retired from service. A comprehensive restoration project led by the Aviation and Missile Command returned the aircraft to its Vietnam-era appearance. The static display now stands as a permanent tribute to Army aviation history and Vietnam veterans.
