Hill Helicopters Schedules First Run For New GT50 Turboshaft Engine
UK-based startup Hill Helicopters has scheduled the first test run for its new GT50 turboshaft engine for late July. This represents a significant milestone in the company's vertically integrated approach to developing its HX50 and HC50 helicopters. The 500-shp engine was designed in-house to be simple, reliable, and cost-effective, avoiding reliance on third-party suppliers. Successful completion of the engine run will be a critical step toward the first flight of the HX50 prototype. Hill has accumulated over 1,000 orders for its new helicopter models.
