Hill Helicopters Schedules First Run For Its New GT50 Turboshaft Engine

UK-based manufacturer Hill Helicopters has announced it will conduct the first ground run of its new GT50 turboshaft engine. This is a major development milestone for the company's ambitious vertically-integrated strategy. The 500-shp engine is being developed in-house to power Hill's clean-sheet HX50 and HC50 light helicopters. The successful test of the powerplant is a critical step forward as the company moves towards the first flight of its prototype aircraft. This event validates the company's design and manufacturing progress for a key component of the new helicopter program.
