Helicopter Pilots Recount Dramatic Water Rescue After Florida Plane Crash
Pilots from the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office Aviation Unit are detailing the rescue of two men after their small plane crashed. The Piper Cherokee went down in the Indian River near Melbourne, Florida. The rescue crew arrived to find the two survivors clinging to the sinking aircraft. In a challenging operation, a rescue specialist was lowered from the hovering helicopter to pull both men from the water. The NTSB and FAA are now investigating the cause of the incident.
