Guernsey Airport to Relocate Runway Safety Area for Compliance
Guernsey Airport is undertaking a major project to move its Runway End Safety Area (RESA) to comply with international standards. The current safety zone at the eastern end of the runway is non-compliant due to a steep drop. The RESA will be moved 210 meters (688ft) to the west to ensure it is on flatter, safer ground. This change will slightly reduce the available landing distance for aircraft approaching from the west. The work is scheduled to be carried out overnight in July to minimize disruption to flight operations.
