Guernsey Airport Relocates Runway Safety Area to Comply with International Standards
Guernsey Airport is moving its Runway End Safety Area (RESA) from the east to the west end of the runway. This project is necessary to comply with updated international safety regulations following a review in 2022. The work, which includes moving earth, drainage, and lighting, will be conducted overnight to minimize disruption to flights. A RESA is a critical graded area designed to reduce the risk of damage if an aircraft overruns the runway. The relocation ensures the airport maintains its safety compliance for all aircraft operations.
