Grant Aviation Airvan Door Separates In-Flight Over Alaska
A Grant Aviation Gippsland GA8 Airvan experienced an in-flight emergency when its rear passenger door separated shortly after departing from Homer, Alaska. The aircraft was operating a scheduled flight to Seldovia with one pilot and four passengers. The pilot declared an emergency and returned safely to Homer Airport. No injuries were reported among those on board. The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has launched an investigation into the incident. The detached door has not yet been located.
