Global Air Freight Rates Stabilize Following Six-Week Surge
Global air freight spot rates have stabilized in the first week of June, ending a six-week period of consecutive increases. The average worldwide rate now stands at $2.52 per kilogram, signaling a slight cooldown in the market. This stabilization is largely attributed to a slowdown in demand growth from key Asian e-commerce hubs, particularly China and Vietnam. Consequently, rates from China to both Europe and the United States have seen a weekly decline, though they remain significantly higher year-on-year. The preceding surge was fueled by a combination of Red Sea shipping disruptions and strong cross-border e-commerce demand.
