Global Air Cargo Tonnages Rebound, Led by Strong Surge in Asia Pacific
Global air cargo tonnages increased by 1% in the second week of June, recovering from a decline in the final week of May. This growth was primarily driven by a significant 6% week-on-week rebound in the Asia Pacific region. The surge is believed to be a recovery from a market slowdown caused by the Dragon Boat Festival holiday in China. While other regions like Europe and Africa saw slight declines, the overall year-on-year global tonnage remains up by 8%. Global average rates have remained stable, showing a 4% increase compared to the same period last year.
