General Atomics Confirms Loss of YFQ-42A Prototype During Test Flight

General Atomics Aeronautical Systems (GA-ASI) has confirmed the loss of a YFQ-42A Full-Scale Aerial Target prototype. The incident occurred on June 13, 2024, during a developmental test flight for the U.S. Air Force at Dugway Proving Ground, Utah. According to the company, the unmanned aircraft experienced an in-flight anomaly. The flight was then intentionally terminated by GA-ASI personnel over a designated, unpopulated area. No injuries or damage to private property have been reported. GA-ASI is conducting a formal review to determine the cause of the anomaly.
