GE Aerospace and NASA Demonstrate Megawatt-Class Hybrid Electric System Above 30,000 Feet
GE Aerospace and NASA have successfully tested a megawatt-class hybrid electric propulsion system. The demonstration took place at NASA's Electric Aircraft Testbed (NEAT) facility. Components were subjected to conditions simulating flight at altitudes above 30,000 feet. This test is a crucial milestone for NASA’s Electrified Powertrain Flight Demonstration (EPFD) project. The ultimate goal is to advance technology that could significantly reduce fuel consumption and CO2 emissions in future commercial aircraft.
