France Names New €10 Billion Aircraft Carrier 'France Libre'
French President Emmanuel Macron has officially named the nation's future nuclear-powered aircraft carrier 'France Libre'. The vessel, part of the PANG program, is a strategic €10 billion project set to replace the current Charles de Gaulle carrier in 2038. It will be considerably larger than its predecessor, measuring approximately 300 meters long with a displacement of 75,000 tons. The carrier will be equipped with advanced U.S. technology, including General Atomics' Electromagnetic Aircraft Launch System (EMALS) and Advanced Arresting Gear (AAG). This platform is designed to operate the next-generation Future Combat Air System (FCAS) fighter, securing France's naval power projection for decades.
