Four Major European Air Navigation Service Providers Partner on Iris Satellite Datalink Programme
Four of Europe's leading Air Navigation Service Providers (ANSPs) have formally joined the Iris programme, a key initiative for modernizing air traffic management. Led by the European Space Agency, Iris utilizes satellite-based datalinks to enable secure, high-capacity communication between pilots and air traffic controllers. This collaboration is a significant step towards implementing the Single European Sky ATM Research (SESAR) master plan. The new technology is expected to enhance flight efficiency, reduce delays, and lower carbon emissions by allowing for more precise flight paths and optimized routing across the continent's busy airspace.
