Flyte Founder Leverages eVTOL Concepts for Novel Hybrid-Electric Propulsion System
Nikolay Zosimenko, founder of startup Flyte, has drawn inspiration from the distributed electric propulsion systems used in eVTOLs to create a new hybrid-electric power unit. The company is developing the Flyte 800-series, a ducted fan system powered by a turboshaft engine that drives a generator. This generator, in turn, powers multiple electric fans, offering significant redundancy and safety benefits. The design aims to be quieter, more efficient, and produce lower emissions than traditional turboprops. Flyte has built a ground-test unit and is now seeking partners and investors to advance the technology, initially targeting the unmanned aircraft market.
