Florida Pilot Recounts Survival After Ditching Plane in Atlantic Ocean
A 20-year-old pilot, Faith Tenkley, is safe after her single-engine Piper PA-28 experienced a complete engine failure. She was forced to execute an emergency landing in the Atlantic Ocean off Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida. After successfully ditching the aircraft, Tenkley managed to swim to shore uninjured. She described herself as 'incredibly fortunate' to have walked away from the incident. Tenkley credits her training for allowing her to remain calm and handle the life-threatening situation. The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) is investigating the cause of the engine failure.
