Flight Instructor Recounts Midair Engine Failure, Executes Successful Crash-Landing in Park
A flight instructor and his student experienced a midair emergency when their single-engine Piper PA-38 lost power over Pennsylvania. Instructor Matthew Sangermano took control of the aircraft after the engine failed during the training flight. He skillfully navigated the plane to an emergency crash-landing in a public park in Perkasie. Miraculously, both the instructor and the student walked away from the incident without any injuries. The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has been notified and is investigating the cause of the engine failure.
