FedEx Reactivates MD-11F Fleet Amid Boeing Delivery Delays
FedEx Express is bringing at least three of its stored McDonnell Douglas MD-11 Freighters back into service. This decision is a direct response to significant delays in the delivery of new Boeing 777F and 767-300F aircraft. The older tri-jet freighters, which were parked in Victorville, California, are being reactivated as a temporary measure. This move is necessary to maintain network capacity amidst Boeing's production and certification challenges. It temporarily reverses FedEx's long-term plan to retire the less fuel-efficient MD-11F fleet by 2028.
