FAA Proposes $357,950 Fine Against Alaska Airlines for Boarding Intoxicated Passengers

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has proposed a civil penalty of $357,950 against Alaska Airlines. The fine stems from two separate incidents in 2022 where the airline allegedly allowed intoxicated passengers to board flights. On one flight, a passenger was reportedly stumbling and falling, while on another, a passenger was so inebriated they had to be held up by a flight attendant. The FAA asserts that by allowing these individuals to board, Alaska Airlines violated Federal Aviation Regulations. The airline has 30 days to respond to the enforcement letter from the agency.
