FAA Investigates 'Extremely Close Call' Involving Two Southwest Airlines Jets in Nashville
The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating a serious runway incursion at Nashville International Airport. The incident, which occurred on Saturday, involved two Southwest Airlines Boeing 737 aircraft. An air traffic controller cleared one jet for takeoff while simultaneously directing another to cross the same runway. Realizing the error, the controller quickly canceled the takeoff clearance, preventing a potential collision. The National Transportation Safety Board has also been notified of the event. Southwest Airlines has stated it is participating in the investigation.
