FAA Expands Engine Approvals for Swift Fuels' 100R Unleaded Avgas

The U.S. Federal Aviation Administration has expanded the approved model list for Swift Fuels’ 100R unleaded avgas. This update adds a significant number of Lycoming 360- and 540-series engines, broadening the fuel's usability across the piston fleet. This action is a key development in the general aviation industry’s ongoing effort to transition away from 100-octane low-lead (100LL) fuel. The expansion builds upon Swift Fuels' initial FAA fleetwide approval from 2022. It further increases the number of aircraft eligible to operate on the high-performance, unleaded alternative.
