FAA Expands Collegiate Program to Tackle Air Traffic Controller Shortage
The U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is expanding its Collegiate Training Initiative (CTI) program by adding 19 new schools. This brings the total number of participating institutions to 104 nationwide. The expansion is a direct response to a critical shortage of air traffic controllers. By increasing the number of partner schools, the FAA aims to create a more robust and diverse pipeline of qualified candidates. Graduates from these approved programs can bypass certain initial testing, accelerating their path to FAA Academy training and eventual placement in control towers and centers.
