FAA-Backed Center Awards Contracts To Validate Urban Air Mobility Separation Technology
The FAA's Center of Excellence for Unmanned Aircraft Systems, known as ASSURE, has awarded new research contracts to industry partners. The primary goal is to validate cooperative separation technologies for Urban Air Mobility (UAM) operations. This research is critical for establishing how future electric air taxis will safely navigate dense urban airspace. The contracts will help develop the standards and technical requirements for detect-and-avoid systems. Ultimately, this work forms a foundational step in creating the regulatory framework needed for the entire Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) ecosystem to operate safely.
