FAA Accepts Certification Plan for WheelTug's Zero-Engine Taxi System

The U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has formally accepted the certification plan for WheelTug's electric taxi system. This represents a critical milestone, allowing the company to proceed with the final phases of approval for its innovative technology. The system uses electric motors in the nose gear of an aircraft, enabling it to taxi on the ground without using its main engines. This process is expected to significantly reduce fuel consumption, emissions, and noise during airport ground operations. The initial Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) will cover the Boeing 737NG family of aircraft.
