Europe-Latin America Air Freight Growth Stalls, Shippers Remain Optimistic for Rebound
Air cargo volume growth on the Europe to Latin America trade lane has stalled after a strong start to the year. According to WorldACD Market Data, volumes in early May dropped 5% compared with the same period in April. This slowdown follows a period of significant expansion, with year-to-date volumes still up 17% compared to last year. The route's growth has been largely fueled by demand for perishables, such as flowers from Colombia and Ecuador. Despite the current pause, shippers and forwarders remain hopeful for a recovery in the second half of the year, citing strong underlying demand.
