End of an Era: Lufthansa Confirms Final A340-600 Passenger Flight
Lufthansa has officially concluded passenger operations for its Airbus A340-600 fleet, marking the end of a 21-year service history. The final flight, LH485, operated from Boston to Munich, with the last aircraft being D-AIHV. The four-engine jets were temporarily brought back into service after the pandemic to meet a surge in travel demand. However, their retirement is now permanent as the airline continues its fleet modernization program. Lufthansa is replacing the less efficient quad-jet with modern twin-engine aircraft like the Airbus A350.
