Elroy Air Achieves First Uncrewed Autonomous Flights Under FAA's eVTOL Integration Program
Elroy Air has successfully completed the first-ever uncrewed autonomous flights as part of the FAA's eVTOL Integration Pilot Program (EIPP). The flights, conducted at Byron Airport in California, featured the company's Chaparral hybrid-electric vertical take-off and landing (hVTOL) aircraft. This achievement marks a significant step toward integrating uncrewed aerial vehicles into the national airspace for autonomous cargo delivery. The Chaparral is designed to carry payloads of 300-500 pounds over distances up to 300 miles. The EIPP initiative is a collaborative effort between the FAA and industry partners to safely advance air mobility operations.
