EasyJet Upgrades Profit Forecast, Discloses £10m Hit from Gatwick Drone Incident
EasyJet has revealed the 2018 Gatwick drone disruption cost the airline £10 million in lost revenue, with a further £5 million lost from a similar event at Heathrow. Despite these past costs, the carrier has raised its pre-tax profit forecast for the year to between £260m and £280m, citing strong travel demand. This positive outlook has prompted a significant fleet upgrade. The airline is converting 35 existing orders for Airbus A320neo aircraft to the larger A321neo model to increase capacity and efficiency.
