EASA Revises Safety Directive for Safran Passenger Seat Belt Attachments on Airbus Fleet
The European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) has issued a revised Airworthiness Directive concerning specific passenger seats on a wide range of Airbus aircraft, including the A320, A330, and A340 families. The directive addresses a potential unsafe condition where the seat belt attachment stud, manufactured by Safran Seats France, could fail under high loads. This failure could cause the seat belt to detach, presenting a significant risk of injury to occupants during an emergency landing. The revised directive clarifies the required inspection procedures and updates the list of affected seat part numbers. Airlines operating the affected aircraft are mandated to perform inspections and implement necessary corrective actions to ensure passenger safety.
