Dubai International Airport Opens VDX, The World's First Purpose-Built Vertiport for eVTOL Aircraft
Dubai International Airport (DXB) has officially launched VDX, the world's first purpose-built vertiport designed specifically for electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft. This groundbreaking facility marks a significant milestone in the global development of Urban Air Mobility (UAM). Developed in collaboration with leading eVTOL companies like Joby Aviation and Archer Aviation, the vertiport is fully integrated with the existing airport infrastructure. The new terminal is designed to handle an initial capacity of up to 300 passengers per hour. This launch positions Dubai as a global leader in advanced air mobility and is a critical step towards establishing a city-wide electric air taxi network.
