DP World Pursues Second Chittagong Container Terminal in Bangladesh Expansion
Global port operator DP World is in discussions to build and operate a second container facility, the Patenga Container Terminal, at Bangladesh's primary seaport in Chittagong. This move is part of a wider strategic push by the Dubai-based company to invest over $1 billion in the country's port and logistics infrastructure. The proposed terminal would handle nearly 500,000 TEUs annually and aims to enhance efficiency at the congested port. The development follows a previous agreement for DP World to develop the larger Bay Terminal. This expansion effort underscores DP World's intent to solidify its presence in the region and support Bangladesh's growing trade.
