Double Engine Failure Forces Air Guinee Antonov An-12 to Ditch Off Conakry Coast

An Air Guinee Antonov An-12BP cargo aircraft was forced to ditch in the Atlantic Ocean on October 25, 2011. The incident occurred shortly after takeoff from Conakry, Guinea, when the number four engine failed. While the crew attempted to return to the airport, the number three engine also failed, leading to a critical loss of power. The pilots successfully performed a water landing about two kilometers from the coast. All four crew members were rescued before the aircraft ultimately sank.
