Doncaster Sheffield Airport Reopening Plans Advance with £138m Funding Approval
The plan to reopen Doncaster Sheffield Airport (DSA) has taken a significant step forward after local leaders approved a funding package. The South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority (SYMCA) has agreed to provide up to £138m to secure a lease on the site. This financial backing is intended to attract a private sector operator to run the airport. DSA was closed by its owner, the Peel Group, in November 2022, after it was deemed no longer financially viable. The council's plan aims to revive the airport as a crucial economic asset for the region.
