Delta's Dual Strategy: Why the Airline's Long-Haul Future Isn't Exclusively Airbus
Despite Delta Air Lines' recent order for 20 Airbus A350-1000s, the carrier is not fully committing its long-haul future to the European manufacturer. This significant order is primarily intended for growth and to replace its retiring Boeing 777 fleet. However, Delta still operates a large and aging fleet of Boeing 767s that will require replacement in the coming years. While the Airbus A330neo is replacing some of these jets, the airline has not yet selected a successor for the entire 767 family. This leaves the door open for a potential future order from Boeing, possibly for the 787 Dreamliner, indicating a balanced fleet strategy.
