DARPA Transfers Autonomous Black Hawk System to US Army for Operational Testing

The U.S. Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) has officially handed over its autonomous flight control system to the U.S. Army. Developed by Sikorsky under the ALIAS program, the technology allows a UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter to operate with zero or minimal crew. The system has already completed a series of successful tests, including fully autonomous flights and obstacle avoidance maneuvers. The U.S. Army will now lead the next phase of development and operational testing. This transfer marks a critical milestone in integrating advanced automation into military aviation to improve safety and mission flexibility.
