Danish Air Transport CEO Highlights Key Challenges in European ACMI Market
Jesper Rungholm, CEO of Danish Air Transport (DAT), has outlined the significant pressures facing the European ACMI sector. The primary challenge is extreme seasonality, with a huge demand peak in summer that is difficult to serve profitably alongside a very quiet winter period. Rungholm also points to intense competition from other carriers, which puts downward pressure on pricing and market stability. This market volatility makes it difficult for specialized ACMI operators to maintain consistent operations and profitability throughout the year. The CEO emphasized that while the market is professionalizing, these structural issues remain a major hurdle.
