Contra Costa County Schedules Community Warning System Siren Test
Contra Costa County's Health Services will conduct a test of the Community Warning System (CWS) sirens in Pittsburg on March 23, 2023. The test is scheduled for 11 a.m. and is designed to ensure the system's functionality. This system is a critical tool used to alert the public to shelter-in-place during emergencies, such as a chemical release from a local industrial facility. The drill is a routine procedure and part of the county's comprehensive emergency preparedness plan. Officials advise that the public will hear the sirens as part of this scheduled test.
