Congo Airways CEO Denies Embezzlement Allegations Amidst Internal Conflict
The CEO of Congo Airways, José Dubier Lueya, has vehemently denied accusations of embezzlement and mismanagement leveled against him by the airline's board of directors. The board, led by Chairman Jean-Bertrand Ewanga, suspended Lueya, a move the CEO claims is illegal and beyond their authority. Lueya asserts that only a presidential decree or the general assembly can remove him from his post. He has since filed a legal complaint for slanderous denunciation against the board chairman. This leadership crisis unfolds as the national carrier remains grounded since September 2023, with plans to restart operations using two wet-leased A320s.
