China Probes Airlines for Alleged Air Freight Rate Violations
China's Ministry of Commerce has launched a new investigation into both domestic and international airlines over air freight rate violations. The probe is focused on potentially unreasonable surcharges, including those for fuel, war risk, and security, that may not reflect actual costs. Several carriers have reportedly been summoned by authorities as part of a crackdown to stabilize foreign trade and prevent price collusion. This action follows a similar investigation in 2021 and could lead to significant penalties for non-compliant airlines.
