Chicago Rockford International Airport (RFD) has achieved its highest-ever cargo ranking, placing 17th in the nation according to 2023 FAA data. The airport handled nearly 3 billion pounds of landed weight last year, a significant performance that pushed it up from its 19th-place ranking in 2022. This growth is largely driven by its key partners, including being home to the second-largest UPS hub in North America and a major Amazon Air facility. As a key part of the E-commerce National Airport Network, RFD continues to expand its role as a major logistics and distribution hub, supporting over 9,400 regional jobs.
