Charges Dropped Against Suspects in 2018 Gatwick Drone Disruption
The Crown Prosecution Service has dropped all charges against Paul and Elaine Gait, the couple arrested in connection with the 2018 Gatwick Airport drone incident. Prosecutors stated there was "no realistic prospect of conviction" based on the available evidence. The couple had been held for 36 hours following their arrest. The original drone sightings caused widespread chaos, grounding around 1,000 flights and disrupting travel for 140,000 passengers over three days. The individual or group responsible for the disruption has never been identified.
