Cessna Citation X+ Holds Title as Fastest Civil Jet Since Concorde's Retirement
The Cessna Citation X+ is recognized as the fastest civil jet since the Concorde was retired in 2003. The private jet achieved a maximum speed of Mach 0.935, making it the fastest non-supersonic civil aircraft ever produced. An upgrade to the original Citation X, the X+ model featured more powerful Rolls-Royce engines and advanced Garmin G5000 avionics. Despite its impressive speed, production ceased in 2018 as market demand shifted towards aircraft with longer range capabilities. While competitors like the Gulfstream G700 are close in speed, the Citation X+ retains its title for now.
