Cathay Pacific Flight Diverts to Alaska After Severe Turbulence Hospitalizes Eight
A Cathay Pacific flight from Hong Kong to Los Angeles encountered severe turbulence while flying over Japan. The incident on flight CX880, operated by a Boeing 777-300ER, was described by passengers as a sudden, violent drop similar to a theme park ride. Due to the turbulence, the aircraft was diverted to Anchorage, Alaska, to address a medical emergency. Upon landing, eight individuals, including both passengers and crew members, were transported to a local hospital for evaluation. The airline later confirmed that none of the injuries were serious, and the aircraft continued its journey to Los Angeles after an inspection.
