British Airways Owner IAG Warns Summer Capacity Constrained by Aircraft Delays
International Airlines Group (IAG), the parent company of British Airways and Iberia, has warned that its summer capacity will be limited due to delayed aircraft deliveries from both Boeing and Airbus. The group is now leasing more aircraft and extending existing leases to mitigate the shortfall for the peak travel season. Despite these operational challenges, IAG reported its first profitable first quarter since before the pandemic, posting a pre-tax profit of €68m. The airline group still anticipates strong summer demand but notes that growth will be lower than originally planned.
